MESC is a marine geophysical and geotechnical services company delivering a wide range of technologies and services.
To deliver the technical solutions
your project needs based on our
services of geophysical & geotechnical
survey , positioning services
, inspection survey , bathymetric
survey , pipeline survey
and seismic survey beside our
experiences in environmental
and metocean services.
To provide technical consulting
services in seafloor mapping and
cartography, oceanographic and
environmental studies to support
the feasibility of engineering projects
in coastal and marine zones
offshore and nearshore.
Geophysics is an essential tool for
the detection and understanding
of variations in the properties of
the Earth, geological structure,
and for the identification of
potential geohazards. The understanding
of the geology and geological
processes active within an
area can have significant implications
for locating infrastructure,
for safety in its design and design
optimization, and for potential
time and cost savings associated
with its installation.
The applications of marine geophysics
are as varied as the techniques
and instruments that have
been developed for surveying the
sea floor , examples of equipment
used at geophysical surveys are:
- Multi Beam Echo sounder
- Side scan sonar
- Sub Bottom profilers
- Magnetometers
- Cable & pipeline tracking
- Pingers & Boomers
Geotechnical investigation, comprising
sampling and in situ testing, provides
ground truthing at specific locations
and is, therefore, a key input into
ground model development.
We have the capability to acquire
marine geotechnical data up to 20m
below seabed in water depths of up to
3000m using a range of equipment
including:
- Seabed penetrometers (CPTs)
- Vibrocorers
- Piston corers
- Box corers
- Clam shell grabs
- Full range of smaller
environmental grabs & trawls
We have our own in-house team of
marine geotechnical surveyors &
technicians to operate and maintain
all geotechnical sampling & coring
equipment which can be deployed
from any third party vessels.
Offshore site surveys require the positioning
of a survey platform (survey
vessel, underwater vehicle or towed
body) with a high relative accuracy.
This accuracy depends on the purpose
of the survey but lies normally
between 0.5 m and 5 m.
Examples of positioning operations
are:
- Rig Positioning
- Barge positioning
- Jacket installation
- SPM positioning
- Diving support vessel positioning
- Construction support vessel
positioning
- Underwater positioning using
USBL and LBL
- Metrology using LBL
Our professional ROV Inspection
Teams give asset owner/operators
a proven, responsive and
cost-effective underwater
inspection and integrity management
partner.
MESC experienced and professional
ROV Teams deploy
high-spec Mini-ROV technology
and tooling to inspect floating
production assets, drilling assets
and other offshore/marine vessels
and structures.
We pride ourselves on being agile,
mobile, responsive, knowledgeable
and extremely Cost-Effective.
Subsea - Oil & Gas applications:
- Subsea Structure Inspection & Work
- FPSO Rigs, Hull Inspection & Cleaning
- Hull and Vertical Structures expertise
- Inspection of Immersed Structures
Bathymetry is the study of the bed
(floor) of a waterbody, involving mapping
of features on charts to provide
information on water depth. Bathymetric
charts are typically produced
to aid navigation and inform dredging
activities, for example during maintenance
of navigational channels,
Examples of Bathymetric survey operations
are:
- Nearshore survey
- Shallow water survey
- Channels survey
- Port survey
- Site survey
Bathymetric surveys can be conducted
by using Single beam echo sounder
or Multibeam echo sounder to generate
Bathymetric charts and contours
Various methods can be used for
pipeline route allocation using survey
equipment from survey vessels or work
class ROV's.
pipeline route detection and profile
can be done using usual survey sensors
as Multibeam echo sounder, side
scan sonar and pipe trackers.
Pipelines surveys include but are not
limited to:
- Pre-lay Survey
- Post-lay Survey
- As-laid Survey
- Touch down monitoring
The ROV can carry instrumentation
to monitor the cathodic protection
given by sacrificial
anodes attached to the structures
and pipelines. Should any
pipeline be buried then a Pipe-
Tracker can be used to locate its
position. This is a sophisticated
underwater metal detector which
uses sensing coils to detect the
magnetic field changes caused
by the steel pipe.
Seismic surveying is a technique used
to explore the layers of rock below the
seabed for geologic features that indicate
the presence of oil or gas. Seismic
waves are generated from a surveying
vessel, travel down through the water
and seabed and reflect back off the
different layers of rock. This information
is used to produce maps of structures
identifying areas where gas
deposits may be found.
There are three basic types of seismic
technologies used to help explore for
oil and gas – 2D, 3D and 4D , Seismic
survey services include but not limited
to:
- Life of Field Seismic (4D)
- Ocean Bottom Seismic
- Portable Seismic Source
- Project Management
- Marine 2D Data Acquisition
Full water column oceanographic
data acquisition, including current
velocity and direction, wave
spectra, tides, conductivity, and
temperature (shallow waters to
ultra deep waters).
Meteorological stations, including
wind, temperature and visibility
Design, installation, and maintenance
of tide stations for ports,
exploration, and survey programs
Integration of instrumentation and
sensors through buoy-based systems
or fiber networks utilizing sophisticated
data processing, web display, storage,
and dissemination software.

and development, subsea and
coastal infrastructure, engineering,
and design criteria.
